Company Profile Aberystwyth Cliff Railway is operated by Constitution Hill Ltd, a registered charity whose patron is the late Lord Geraint of Ponterwyd. The trustees are volunteers from the local community. The new restaurant 'Y Consti' The new restaurant Y Consti. was opened in April 2005, and the old summerhouse tearooms have been converted into a children's games room
In recent years the work of the non-profit organisation has resulted in great strides being made towards restoring the hill to its former glory and making it fully accessible to everyone. The construction of ramps between the top station and the camera obscura has ensured that this fascinating attraction can be accessed by those with wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs. In terms of the goal of restoration some financial resources have been generated through the securing of heritage grants, and our largest project has been the construction of a new cafe and gift shop thanks to Objective One funding. This new facility opened in April 2005. Much of the display work and educational resources around the site were paid for by a grant from 'Enfys', a charity based in North Wales.
All of our profits are ploughed back into ongoing projects and every visitor we have therefore makes a difference to our ability to fund the continuing programme of restoration. Anyone wishing to make a donation towards our efforts can do so by contacting Alun Davies, Manager of Constitution Hill Ltd, at the registered address (see contacts page). Likewise the manager will be grateful to hear from anybody who feels that they have a skill to contribute in terms of volunteer labour.
